The gateway to your saltwater angling adventure on the MV Pacific Lure at Shearwater
Resort begins on Denny Island, a pristine area on the central coast of British Columbia.
From early May through September our area is situated among a myriad of channels,
islands and inlets that are teeming with all five species of salmon on their annual
migrations to their natal streams.
The highlight is definitely the huge and hard-hitting Chinook salmon otherwise known
as king salmon that are consistently in the Tyee class (over 30 pounds). The feisty
and acrobatic Coho salmon (silver salmon) are voracious feeders and can be found
in large numbers throughout the area. We enjoy fly fishing for Coho as they are
consistently feeding along the miles of kelp reefs that line our area. While idling
along the kelp beds you never know what you are going to get. Don't forget about
the halibut fishing on the west coast of British Columbia, as there are plenty of
halibut to go around. These leviathans of the deep keep our guests intrigued for
an entire day of west coast fishing excitement. Abundant bottom fish that will readily
bite your lure include Lingcod, Rock Fish and Snapper. The saltwater sport fishing
here is some of the best salmon fishing British Columbia, has to offer.
Our area also supports an amazing amount of wildlife both in the ocean and on land.
Milbanke Sound and the discovery Passage support enormous numbers of Orcas (killer
whale) and Humpback Whales so whale watching is readily available. We are on the
doorstep of the Great Bear Rainforest home of the Kermode or Spirit Bear (white
bear) and the area resonates with the sounds of bald eagles and other waterfowl.
The Pacific Lure is a 47 foot luxury yacht that was designed specifically for the
central coast. The layout includes private staterooms with ensuite bathrooms, a
spacious dining room/lounge, a large fishermen’s cockpit and a flying bridge. The
yacht is well staffed and you will enjoy fine dining featuring catch of the day
salmon, halibut, crab and prawns.

Hot Springs
Surrounding Shearwater are three hot springs, in the past few years two of these
have turned private but the remaining hot spring at Eucott Bay has remained open
to the public.
Ivory Island Light House
Feel free to hike and explore the beautiful sights of Ivory Island. Enjoy your picnic
lunch ashore while you soak in the atmosphere.
Codville Lagoon & Sagar Lake
Upon arrival, you can refresh yourself by swimming in the cool lake water. Afterwards,
we will provide you with a picnic lunch to enjoy by the lake shore. You will have
plenty of time to relax, swim or hike in the surrounding area before returning to
Shearwater in the late afternoon.
Ellerslie Lagoon, Waterfalls & Lake
Ellerslie Lagoon can only be entered at high tide, so the trip begins at 8 a.m.
It is a 1hr 45min trip north up Spiller Channel to the mouth of the lagoon. As you
enter, look to the opposite end of the lagoon and you will see the fantastic Ellerslie
Falls crashing into the Lagoon.
Goose Islands
You can comb the magnificent beaches for glass balls and other pacific treasures
that may have made their way over from Japan. Enjoy your picnic lunch ashore and
then you are free to swim, hike and just relax on the beach for the rest of the
day.
